Supernatural Energy: Is There More to the World Than We Can See

Ancient stories, mysterious phenomena, and even the stories we tell are all tangled with forces that seem to defy logic and cannot be explained.

What if the boundaries that science establishes around reality are not as strict as they appear to be? What if the invisible flow of life is being guided by something else, something that is not visible to the human eye?

For generations, there have been rumors about supernatural energy. Others perceive it as a power that unites the spiritual and the physical, while others refer to it as the sign of magic. It is a source of power that is equally feared and admired in various cultures. However, the issue still stands: is it real or just another shadow cast by human imagination?

The old world’s myths are a powerful source of information. Ancient societies thought that supernatural energy lived in holy places and powerful artifacts and flowed through the land. Many druids in the past spoke about ley lines, which were thought to be unseen energy lines that ran through the Earth, linking locations with spiritual or mystical significance.

According to Eastern religions, prana or chi was the invisible power that granted vigor and vitality. These beliefs were not scattered pieces of folklore; rather, they were common understandings that were geographically different but united by the idea that the world is more than what we can see.

Even today, the concept remains. In regions unaffected by modern cynicism, shamans still speak of unseen forces, mediums claim that they can channel spirits, and mystics insist that supernatural energy may be controlled, directed, and even used as a weapon. Some claim that we have simply lost the ability to see what was once evident, while others reject these concepts as superstition.

The fictional world, too, is filled with echoes of this power. In Saga of the Keepers, A Demon’s Kiss, supernatural energy is not only an abstract force but rather a living current that weaves through the earth.  Some can sense it, even use it for their purposes; most are oblivious to it, even if it can subtly influence choices that are made.  Keeper bloodlines often have those that can tap into the earths energy and such “Mages” are highly valued and cherished.  Keepers know well the energy barrier, known to them as the “boundary” or “veil” separates our world from that of malevolent creatures collectively referred to as “demons” (as named by the ancients). They also know where the veil is strong or weak and there are those that willingly or unwittingly breach the barrier and bring the foul creatures to our world. The Keepers themselves are obligated to destroy boundary crossers, punish those that summon such creatures to our world and protect the innocent from harm.

There are troubling issues with the idea that divine energy exists whether we recognize it or not. What else might be hiding just out of our grasp if such forces do exist at the boundaries of perception?

Legends often treat this energy as neutral, neither good nor evil, but dangerously unpredictable. Yet throughout history there are those that believe they can use the power of earths energy to summon and control the demons from across the veil to do their bidding.  One such person in Saga of the Keepers, A Demon’s Kiss, descends into depravity due to his attempt to use magical energies for his own evil purposes. His downfall was not a warning against power itself but served as a lesson against arrogance, the conviction that one could control something bigger than oneself without facing the consequences.

This theme is reflected in real-world beliefs. Numerous mystical traditions warn against interacting carelessly with invisible powers. The concept is simple: supernatural energy is a force, not a tool, and those who try to control it often end up being eaten by it instead. It is the invisible fire that gives and takes, giving power at the expense of the soul and knowledge at the expense of sanity.

Now, some would argue that these are just stories, the result of the wildest human imagination. However, certain mysteries are difficult for even the keenest skeptics to explain. There are places where technology malfunctions without cause, where compasses spin wildly as though they are caught in an unseen force storm, and where people who have experienced near death come away with information they shouldn’t have. Coincidences? Maybe. Or maybe traces of something older, something beyond measurement.

At one point in the book Saga of the Keepers, A Demon’s Kiss, there’s this idea that is both exciting and disturbing to consider that understanding supernatural energy necessitates something more than just intelligence. If such forces do exist, then what does it mean for those who refuse to acknowledge them?

Throughout history, the line between myth and reality has never been clear. The presence of microscopic life and the movement of the stars, which were ones dismissed as folklore, eventually became scientific facts. Is it really so hard to think that supernatural energy may one day be accepted as fact rather than myth? And that the unseen forces mentioned in both ancient scriptures and fantasy literature hold more truth than we dare to admit.

There is a reason why certain myths persist. There is a reason why humans continue to create stories about invisible forces and powers that are unquestionable despite the age of reason. The human mind is attracted to things that are beyond our understanding and to the idea that there is always more out there.

And maybe, just maybe, those hints of supernatural energy are not whispers at all but echoes of something waiting to be understood.
